Found out about Larry's, Aaron's, Rusty's, and Geoff's work at making a Moonlight 1.0 release that could view the Obama Inauguration this morning, so I absolutely had to use Moonlight today to watch it and it was great. Flawless.
Way to go guys!
Once again proving that the Mono team is unstoppable!
GO MONO! GO!

It didn't work for me. I've tried with two up to date distributions, fedora 10 and ubuntu 8.10, on two different machines.
All I've obtained was a small blue rounded box and something that looked like a unmoveable volume control.
But no video... :(
:-(
Sounds like you had the same problem as a guy on Digg, dunno why it isn't working for you guys.
All my machines are running openSUSE 11.0 and it worked, can't easily test on Ubuntu or Fedora, but I think our QA guys routinely test Moonlight on those distros.
Did the codecs install ok?
Yes, moonlight and MS codec installation went fine.
Do you know other websites using Moonlight with the same MS codec as the one used for pic2009 ?
yea, try http://silverlight.net/fox
See if that works. Might be that the Silverlight 1.0 javascript player code was broken and not moonlight (the javascript player was rushed afaik).
If that doesn't work, what arch are you on?
I also got the gray "loading..." badge overlayed with a blue slider and nothing else.
Fox videos doesn’t work either.
i386, up-to-date Ubuntu Jaunty.
One of the Mono devs is experiencing the same problem on openSUSE 11.1, so we're looking into it.
Do you guys get any errors on the console if you run firefox from gnome-terminal?
I'm having the same situation on Ubuntu 8.10, unfortunately with no errors visible in the terminal.
Geoff Norton found the bug last night, it had to do with the user's locale and an snprintf w/ a %g
The fix was to use g_ascii_dtostr(), so there will likely be a Moonlight 1.0.1 release with that fix.
A temporary workaround would be to set your locale to C
The locale workaround works fine for the fox videos.
Thanks.
No prob, thank you for telling us about the bug! ;-)
